Why The New York Knicks Should Make A Play For Pelicans' Eric Gordon

Gordon would bring an average of 16.2 points per game to the lineup, which is almost equal to the combined average for both Shumpert and Smith (who average a combined 18.9 points per game). Including Smith in an offer for Gordon could help the Knicks bring him to New York while parting ways with Smith and getting back to focusing on winning. Jesse D. Garrabrant/Getty Images The most important part of this potential trade is that it could help keep Carmelo Anthony in New York. After this season, Anthony is set to enter free agency, and as Marc Berman click here of the New York Post reports , Anthony does not want to go anywhere, but if he had to choose another team, it would likely be the Los Angeles Lakers . Anthony has been the face of the franchise since he was traded from the Denver Nuggets in 2011. He made it known for years that he wanted to play for New York, the city in which he was born and raised. Losing him would be detrimental to the structure of this franchise, as there almost would not be one without him. It would show that its own players believe this organization is heading in the wrong direction, which is not workout something ownership wants to even think about.
